I have owned this combo pan for some time and it is one of my favorite cooking tools. I mostly use the griddle side since I already have a grill pan, but don't let that interfere with your decision to buy one of these implements. The only challenge for me is the cool spot between burner rings, but moving the food around to a warmer area does the trick. I would recommend this product for use on gas stoves/cooktops or outdoor grills. Based on many reviews I've read (not specifically relating to Lodge products), pans like this don't do well on glass-topped, electric stoves where a flat-bottomed pan is necessary to prevent overheating and thermal shutdown. Additionally, these pans are heavy, so keep that in mind if you choose to hang them overhead, but they are excellent at keeping even heat. Just remember to preheat them for a while so the chance of food sticking is reduced and the pans won't warp. Cast iron cookware, when maintained properly and well seasoned can be passed down to many, many generations and that's what makes them so absolutely great. Thank you Lodge for producing such wonderful cooking tools! Plus, every article can be recycled at the end of it's life to serve future generations in a new and better form.
