I have owned one of these grills for more than ten years and have been completely satisfied. With the exception of the handle, all components are made of cast iron which does makes the grill heaver than other grills of its size. But as with all cast iron cooking items this grill does an excellent job of retaining heat and cooking quickly. It retains heat so well that it does not require a large amount of charcoal. Especially when using real lump charcoal (which burns slowly) vs charcoal briquettes. The clean-up requires the same amount of effort as with other charcoal grills. One “trick” I do when I am cooking and want a hood over the grill to retain even more heat is I take a disposable aluminum turkey roasting pan and turn it upside down over the grate, it fits perfectly. I would also recommend spraying the cooking grate with a non-stick grill cooking oil spray before each use to season the cast iron. To prevent a dangerous flair up from the aerosol spray can, be sure to spray the grate before you place it over the lit charcoal. These sprays can be found in most supermarkets with the other non-stick cooking sprays.
